Infrastructure Reports
In order to argue for better infrastructure in the parish, the Parish Council needs a verified record of all issues which arise. You are urged to use this facility to record what has happened, whether it is drainage, power, buses, broadband / cell phones or schools.

Sewage again coming out of the same manhole in the Maltings opposite Woodlands Close on the Wednesday evening. SW stated that it had been alerted by an alarm in the pumping station [not clear how that could be?] when the incident was reported. It said 'somebody was coming out'.
Thursday morning and nobody from SW had attended but the flow was again gushing and the untreated sewage can clearly be seen to flow across the road and into the surface water drain - and hence the stream / river / sea.
SW reported overflow spills of untreated sewage 38 times for a total of 193 hours during 2021 and 33 times for a total of 223 hours during 2022. [2022 was a particularly dry summer so the data demonstrates that the spills are not all related to surface water issues.] The data does not include issues like this.

Sewage again coming out of the same manhole in the Maltings opposite Woodlands Close. Although about 10mm fell the day before, a negligible amount of rain fell in the 24 hours before this overflow was reported.

Thank you very much for this : the more evidence we have, the better. The manhole is exactly in the location marked on the SW network map as chamber 0608. The flow is from the old part of the Maltings plus the new development out onto Main Street and down to near the Horse and Cart where it crosses the road again heading for the pumping station. We only had 9mm of rain the day before - and the same the day before that - but the sewer is clearly supercharged [carrying more than it can cope with].

PPC Update
SW report that this sewer blockage was caused by a heavy duty plastic bag in the sewer. We should all only flush down the three P's and check that our rainwater gullies are protected with grids.

The water supply to the parish was again cut off, this time due to a burst main at the west end of Peasmarsh village. Luckily this was a short-lived issue : the water was off from 15:00 to 20:00.

The water supply to the parish and surrounding parishes has again been cut off due to yet another burst main in Beckley. On this occasion those lower down the hills didn't completely lose the supply - but those at the top did.
Once the supply was restored, those living on Starvecrow Lane - and perhaps elsewhere - experienced days of undrinkable water : it was fizzy, left a residue in the glass, tasted metallic and was grey. It eventually ran clear on the morning of July 29.

Despite SEW saying the repair below was complete, it wasn't : it was only a temporary repair so the water is off again for the permanent repair. Someone reports that their water was undrinkable until May 31.

Loss of power at about 17:15 in Old Hop Garden and restored at about 17:45. Power failed again in the small hours and restored before 07:00. On School Lane power failed at about 17:15 followed by several attempts to restore which failed but back on again in about a minute. Worried about effect of multiple starts at short intervals on electronic equipment.

The 8.23 bus from Northiam to Rye was 10 minutes late again. This is reported to be a consistent problem as it is late most days and often cancelled. There is no service display at the stops and the app is reported to be unreliable and not user friendly.
